tony.jpgMaster Tony Lerma

Owner and Master instructor at America's Best Karate of Danville.  He has been teaching Tae Kwon Do for over a decade and currently holds the rank of 5th Dan in Tae Kwon Do and 4th Dan in Hapkido.  His formal education is in the field of Criminal Justice.  Achieved an Honor Graduate status of the USAF Police Academy where he graduated first in his class.  He started his Tae Kwon Do training in 1981 under Master Myong Mayes, who is now the highest ranking female Tae Kwon Do Master in the world. 

He has also trained in the folowing Martial Arts:  Jujitsu, Aikido, WuShu, Escrima, Okinawan Kobudo and Tai Chi. 

His list of instructors include:  Grand Master Myong Mayes, Master George Chung, Master Anthony Chan, Sensei Scott Berg, Grand Master Kambiz Moghaddam, Master Dan Amador, Sifu Yi Ting Lee. 

He has appeared in demonstrations and public events including:  San Francisco 49ers half time shows, San Jose Clash soccer games, San Francisco Spiders ice hockey games. 

He and his students are favorites at local events in San Ramon, Danville and Walnut Creek, California. 

His other interests include: history, anthropology, ancient and modern world cultures, gardening, travel and multimedia arts. 

Brief history:

In 1996, Mr. Lerma was promoted to District Manager of the East Bay overseeing the Martial Arts instruction and operations of studios in Pleasanton, San Ramon and Danville, CA. 

In 1998, Mr. Lerma acquired ownership of the Danville location. 

In 1999, Master Lerma founded the Korean American Martial Arts Association. 

In addition to his traditional martial arts program at ABK in Danville, Mr. Lerma currently teaches programs throughout the local school district. 

In 2002 Master Lerma developed Karate A to Z Martial Arts alphabet curriculum, designed for the needs of pre-school age children.  He believes his greatest contribution to the arts is teaching young people self respect and self accountability.  His biggest inspirations are his family and students. 

 

 Mr. Sean Deyhim  Mr. Deyhim

Mr. Sean Deyhim started Martial Arts training at America's Best Karate of Danville in 1994 at the age of 13.  He has been a student at ABK for more than half of his life and has had the opportunity to learn from more than 6 Chief Instructors during his training as Master Lerma's senior most student. 

Sean lives by the principles, philosophy and esoteric teachings of the Martial Arts.  His mentors and the beautiful art he has learned shape his attitude about life and as a result he is a dedicated teacher who uses his knowledge, physical skill and passion to help his students set and reach new goals. 

In addition to his 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Sean has also trained in Aikido, Jujitsu and Kickboxing.  He is a Napa Valley Police Academy graduate and is completing his undergraduate degree in Economics.
